Acceptance of these terms

By using lokaldeko.com (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you're using the Site on behalf of a business — for example, as a Retailer — you're confirming you have the authority to bind that business to these terms.

What LOKALDEKO is

LOKALDEKO is a marketplace platform. We connect shoppers ("you," "Shoppers") with independent furniture and home décor retailers ("Retailers") who list and sell their own inventory through the Site.

LOKALDEKO is not the seller of any item you buy through the Site. Each listing is created and controlled by the Retailer who owns it — including its price, condition, description, photos, and fulfillment options. The contract of sale for anything you buy is between you and that Retailer; LOKALDEKO facilitates the transaction, payment, and delivery coordination.

Accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or place an order.
• The information you give us when you register must be accurate, and you're responsible for keeping it up to date.
• You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you believe your account has been compromised.
• You may check out as a guest, without creating an account, using your email address. See "Orders & payment," below.

Orders & payment

Prices on the Site are shown in Canadian dollars (CAD) unless stated otherwise. Placing an order reserves the item(s) from the Retailer's inventory and creates a payment request processed through our payment processor, Stripe.

An unpaid order reservation is held for a short window; if payment isn't completed in time, the reservation expires automatically and the item becomes available again. Once payment succeeds, your order is confirmed with the Retailer(s) involved.

If your order includes items from more than one Retailer, each Retailer's portion is treated as a separate order for fulfillment and refund purposes, even though you check out once.

Cancellations & refunds

You can cancel an unpaid order reservation yourself at any time before payment completes. Once an order is paid, cancellation and refunds are handled with the Retailer — see our Shipping & Returns page for exactly how that works.

Retailer responsibilities

Retailers are responsible for the accuracy of their own listings, including condition, price, and availability; for fulfilling orders they accept, on the timeline and by the method they've committed to; and for responding to buyer questions and refund requests in good faith. LOKALDEKO may remove a listing, suspend a Retailer's account, or withhold payout if a Retailer materially breaches these obligations.

Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

• List, sell, or attempt to buy counterfeit, stolen, or prohibited items;
• Provide false information about yourself, an item, or an order;
• Harass, threaten, or defraud another user;
• Circumvent the Site to complete a transaction outside the platform in order to avoid fees, protections, or moderation;
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the normal operation of the Site;
• Use the Site for any unlawful purpose.

We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms.

Your content

When you post a review, send a message, or report a listing, you're responsible for what you write, and it must be truthful and not defamatory, harassing, or unlawful. You grant LOKALDEKO a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content on the Site in connection with the listing, order, or conversation it relates to.

Intellectual property

The LOKALDEKO name, logo, and Site design are owned by LOKALDEKO. Product photos, descriptions, and other listing content remain owned by the Retailer or brand that supplied them, and are shown on the Site under licence for the purpose of the listing.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Site is provided "as is." We work to keep listings accurate and the Site available, but we don't guarantee that every listing is error-free, that the Site will be uninterrupted, or that any particular Retailer will fulfil an order on time — Retailers are independent businesses, and LOKALDEKO is not liable for their acts or omissions, including delivery delays, product defects, or a Retailer's failure to honour a warranty.

To the extent permitted by law, LOKALDEKO's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Site is limited to the amount you paid LOKALDEKO (not the Retailer) in connection with the order giving rise to the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the date below. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
